AmeriCorps is a National Service Program that engages community members in service throughout the nation. Our local, KCR/AmeriCorps supports a myriad of programs throughout Kitsap County. The following is basic information about serving with KCR/AmeriCorps:

• Our current KCR/AmeriCorps program started on 1 October 2005 and will end on 31 August 2006.
• The application process for the 2006/07 program will start with applications becoming available on August 14, 2006 and applications are due not later than 4:00 pm on 25 August 2006.
• 36 full-time members will be paid a monthly living allowance, currently $990.92 per month for the 2006/07 KCR/AmeriCorps term.
• All new full-time members will start on October 2, 2006 and serve through August 31, 2007.
• Summer-only members, primarily working with and hired through the City of Bremerton or Kitsap County agencies are paid minimum wage.
• Full time members are also eligible to receive a medical plan; childcare, if income eligible; and, forbearance on existing education loans while enrolled in AmeriCorps.
• Upon successful completion of 11 months and 1,700 hours of service, full-time members will receive an education award in the amount of $4,725. Summer members will receive a $1,000 education award after serving 300 hours.
