What is AmeriCorps?
AmeriCorps is a National Service Program that engages community members like you in service throughout the nation. Our local KCR AmeriCorps program supports a myriad of community organizations throughout Kitsap County. If you have a passion for serving our community and a strong desire to address unmet needs, this could be the program for you. You will gain experience in education, human services, disaster preparedness, and grow personally. You can explore your interests, make new and long lasting friendships and network community wide.
Program Details
| Full-time 2010/2011 KCR-AmeriCorps members each serve a minimum of 1700 hours in service that includess: |

tutoring and mentoring students in elementary and junior high schools schools |
| • |
helping families learn skills to help them overcome personal barriers that further their goals in education or employment |
| • |
advocating for survivors of domestic violence |
| • |
teaching CPR/First Aid and disaster preparedness |
| • |
identifying, planning and participating in a variety of monthly service projects |
| • |
facilitating programs that engage youth in service |
| • |
mentoring and working with homeless teens |
• |
recruiting, training, and managing volunteers |
| • |

40 full-time members serve from Oct. 1, 2010 through Aug. 31, 2011.
Program Benefits
| Full-time members receive: |
| • |
A monthly living allowance, currently $1,072.74 per month |
| • |
Eligible to receive a medical plan; childcare subsidy, if income eligible; and, forbearance on existing education loans that are not in default while enrolled in AmeriCorps |
| • |
Upon successful completion of one term, full-time members earn a minimum of $4,725 education award |
| • |
Minimum Time members serve 300 hours and will receive and education award from $1,000 - $1,132 |
